St. Bernards CYO

Located in Waverly directly across from Memorial Stadium. There were CYO dances every Saturday night. Most of the great local bands played there.

I remember the band The Lafayettes played at a St. Bernard CYO dance. Every teen in the area from nearby CYO's was there — a hot ticket! It was during the time of their national hit Life's Too Short in 1962. The school auditorium had a large and high stage with plush theater curtains. The band was introduced as the curtains were slowly raised. The boys played great to the delight of dancing fans. Later in years, I worked regularly on keyboard in small combos with Ben Proctor, drummer with the Lafayettes. Great times!
